MAX4Kids Scholarship Application
MAX is excited and pleased to support the youth of our River Region by awarding ten students $2,000 scholarships for continued education. MAX is a cooperative not-for-profit financial institution committed to building lifelong relationships with our members. We wish you continued success with all your educational goals and in all your future endeavors.
Eligibility
This scholarship is intended for students continuing their education at a four-year institution, junior college or technical school.
1. The student applying for the scholarship must be a MAX member. A parent's or guardian's membership does not qualify.
2. Applicant must be (or will be) a spring 2008 graduate of a River Region high school with at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA, and must begin college or technical school in the fall of 2008.
3. The deadline to apply for a MAX Scholarship is March 14, 2008.
How To Apply
1. Scholarship applications may be obtained from any MAX, Your Community Credit Union office, by calling 334-398-0913, or you may download the application below.
2008 MAX4Kids Scholarshipp Application > 2. All sections of the MAX4Kids Scholarship application must be completed by the student applicant only.
3. Write a 350 word essay describing your choice of major or area of study, your plans after college and the contributions you plan to make to society after graduating. Also, add a statement of the values of credit union membership.
4. Include three (3) letters of recommendation and list all other scholarships received. 5. Include your official high school transcript (obtained from your counselor), as well as official SAT, ACT or College Entrance Score. Additional consideration will be given to students based on academic standing, or community or school involvement.
6. Mail this application and materials to MAX, Your Community Credit Union, P.O. Box 244040, Montgomery, AL 36124-4040. Incomplete packages will automatically disqualify your application. All applications must be postmarked by March 14, 2008.
Selection Process
Judging will take place in mid-April by a selection panel and the decision of the judges is final. The MAX Scholarship Committee will review all applications and select ten (10) students to receive $2,000 scholarship awards. In the event of a tie, the committee will interview the applicants to select scholarship recipients. All applicants will be notified of scholarship decisions.
Award Disbursement
MAX will award a $2,000 scholarship to the selected applicants. MAX will award the money upon receiving a letter from the registrar of the designated college or university, or any document confirming the recipients successful completion of the first quarter or semester of study.
