Enhanced Login Security FAQ | Print |
What will I see after I enroll one computer and then try to login and enroll a second computer? You will be presented with your challenge questions. Once you answer those correctly, you will be logged in to the Online Branch.

What if my pop-up blocker blocks the enrollment prompt? Most browsers will present you with a message asking you if you would like to allow that pop-up or others from the same source. You may click “Yes” or “Allow”, or you may go directly to User Options on your Online Branch opening screen. From there, click on Enhanced Login Security.

What if I have forgotten the answers to my challenge questions? Call the myMAX Service center at (334)260-2600, option 2 or (800) 776-6776, option 2. An Online Services representative will reset your password and challenge questions.

Will my Online Branch experience be any different once I enroll all the computers I regularly use? No. After you enroll a computer, you will then log in using your member number and password just like you did before you enrolled. Your protection will be invisible to you.

What exactly is a cookie? The Enhanced Login Security cookie is an encrypted, secure piece of data stored on your computer's browser. It is like your computer's fingerprint. It will uniquely authenticate you as the owner of your account by being encoded to match your account when you log in to the Online Branch and enroll.

Will Enhanced Login Security cookies have my personal information stored in them? No externally identifiable information about you or your accounts is stored in it.

Is this cookie device ID a formal certificate or can it be cleared with spyware tools? The cookie components will, in general, not be deleted by anti-spyware tools. The cookie device ID can be deleted but it is not a downloaded certificate.

Does Enhanced Online Security work with all of the currently supported browsers? Yes.

Can Macintosh/Apple users enroll in Enhanced Login Security? Yes, and Safari is a currently supported browser.

Are password format rules changing with Enhanced Login Security? No, but it is safest to use passwords of eight digits or more with a special character included.

I have declined enrollment several times, and now I no longer see the enrollment prompt. Can I still enroll in Enhanced Login Security? Yes. Just click on User Options inside the Online Branch, then click on Enhanced Login Security. Then select “Add extra security protection to this computer (Recommended).”

May I opt-out of Enhanced Login Security after I enroll? No.

What if I have more than one membership account? Will I be able to enroll one computer for both? You will be able to access multiple accounts from the same computer. One secure cookie will be stored in the browser for each account.

When I purchase a new computer, will it need to be enrolled and how do I un-enroll my old computer? Any new computer will need to be enrolled for the Enhanced Login Security. Old computers can be un-enrolled by logging in to the Online Branch from that computer and choosing the “Remove extra security protection from this computer” option from the Enhanced Login Security options page.

Will I need to uninstall the Enhanced Login Security authentication device (cookie) if I get rid of my computer? That is not necessary. Knowledge or presence of a cookie does not provide information sufficient to access your account. Another user would have to know your member number and password. But if you would feel safer by removing the cookie, you may do so by unenrolling.

Will this prevent Trojan software from compromising passwords? Enhanced Login Security cookies, by themselves, will not prevent compromise of passwords. The Enhanced Login Security cookie device helps prevent fraudulent access to your account if a criminal is able to access your password and member number. As long as you are enrolled in the system, nobody will be able to access your accounts unless they try to do so from a computer that you have enrolled in the system. That is why we discourage you from enrolling or “authenticating” a computer you share with others at work or any kind of group setting.

What if I set my computers not to accept cookies? You will not be able to enroll or download the Enhanced Login Security cookie.

Will the cookie be easily deleted? It is possible to delete the cookie. It can be reinstalled the next time you log in from that computer. You will have to answer your challenge questions correctly to completely log in and do so.

If I have a firewall, will it prevent installation of the cookie? Most personal firewalls should not affect the installation of the browser cookie. If you have a firewall that presents you with difficulty enrolling, you need to contact the maker of the firewall and ask for help modifying the settings so you can enhance your computer's security for logging in to your personal accounts.
